ZONNEBLOEM PLAYGROUND
Placemaking Together through Play
Working closely alongside the students of Zonnebloem, we implemented a number of placemaking interventions based on a process of collective hands-on prototyping.
First we built a Play Barn re-using material from artist Morag Myerscough's Design Indaba installation. The Play Barn is a space for creative ideas to grow on site and is equipped with an area to view digital content and storage for loose part prototying materials. We began exploring ideas through free play. Students could build tools for their own play and express their ideas at scale on the playground.
Through discussion groups and playing our prototypes, we made collective decisions on what to take forward into the design development phase. As proffessional Designers, we developed the ideas and designed production processes that could include the students in implementation.
Assembling together, we built our ideas and celebrated through play.
